As a dietary kitchen cook you are responsible for preparing and cooking meals specifically tailored to meet the dietary needs of individuals with special restrictions or medical conditions, in a hospital settings by following strict menus and recipes while ensuring food safety and proper portion control. The dietary cooks primary focus is to provide nutritious meals that adhere to specific dietary guidelines set by a registered dietitian. We will provide training – No special education required, just a positive attitude in this rewarding job.

Essential Job Functions

  • Meal Preparation: Cooking meals according to established dietary plans, including modifications for allergies, diabetes, heart disease, low sodium, and other restrictions. 

  • Maintains compliance with applicable health, safety, food handling, and hygiene codes and standards.

  • Assists with unloading, inspection, and storage of raw ingredients and supplies.

  • Treats all residents with dignity and respect.  Promotes and protects all residents’ rights.

  • ​​​​​​​Always follows appropriate safety and hygiene measures to protect residents and themselves.

  • Follows established infection control policies and procedures

Required skills and qualifications:
  • Basic culinary skills and knowledge of food preparation techniques
  • Understanding of different dietary restrictions and modifications
  • Ability to read and follow recipes accurately
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain consistency
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Serve Safe Certification Preferred but required to be completed within one month of start date.
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting preferred ​​​​​​​
  • Background check, drug screening and TB test required upon hire for all positions.
