North Platte Valley Medical Center is looking for new members to join our team in Saratoga, WY as a Helping Hand. This is a Bridge program to becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). As a Helping Hand you are responsible for learning the role and expectations of becoming a CNA.
The ideal Helping Hand's candidate is dependable, compassionate, punctual, and enjoys helping others. This person must be reliable, empathetic, and be able to work with all types of people.
Responsibilities:
- The Helping Hand will shadow a CNA to understand the role and get to know the residents and facility.
- They will participate in the facilities Activities Programs and assist the Activities Coordinator with the residents.
- Assists CNA's in the dietary role of assisting with meal pass, assisting residents during the meal times.
- You will not have direct patient contact unless you assist another CNA with Non-ADL's
Requirements:
- Education: Sufficient education to demonstrate functional literacy. Successful completion of a Nurse Aid training and competency evaluation program approved by the State of WY within 6 months of date of hire.
- Work Experience Prior experience giving personal care to impaired individuals in a health care setting preferred but not required.
- Certificate/Licenses: Acceptable verification of training and competency evaluation from State Nurse Aide Registry within 6 months of date of hire and no findings in the Registry concerning abuse, neglect, mistreatment of residents or misappropriations of residents’ property.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Must be able to lift 75 pounds at times
- Freedom from drugs and effects of the use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.

NPVMC provides the most up-to-date medical campus in Southeastern Wyoming. In addition to a 24-hour emergency room, NPVMC will offer advanced imaging capabilities, including ultrasound, X-Ray, digital mammography, and CT capabilities. It features an inpatient pharmacy, laboratories and physical and occupational therapy facilities. It will be staffed with both full-time doctors and mid-level providers as well as professional staff in all other healthcare positions. The 25 beds will be allocated between acute care and long-term care, enabling NPVMC to offer nursing home and rehabilitation services to local residents.
